Here are some more pictures from the 3 Peaks. Unfortunately they are very biased towards the beginning and Ben Nevis, just simply through me not taking many photos later. Please send in more images if you want me to add them.

Most of you remember Ian running all three mountains. Below is a short video – pieced together from a sequence of photos – of his triumphant return down the longest and biggest – Ben Nevis.

20 walking members together with 5 support drivers of Long Eaton Round Table successfully completed their attempt to conquer the 3 Peak Challenge over the weekend of 21^st / 22^nd June.

The peaks, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon had a combined total ascent of 3400 metres.

This, together with over 1000 miles of travelling just go to prove what an achievement the event was.

Although not all sponsorship money is in yet, it is hoped that the club will raise about £ 5000.

The support vehicles were very kindly donated free of charge by Sunwin of Mansfield, Parkway Volkswagon and Webster Brothers Van Hire of Sandiacre to whom Long Eaton Round Table are most grateful.

Donations will be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Round Table Children’s Wish and there will also be donations made to local good causes.

3 Peaks Challenge completed

Three mountains; 20 walkers; 5 support drivers; about 24 miles of trail; 3400m total ascent; 1000+ miles on the road – these are just some of the numbers that summed up the the 3 Peaks challenge completed by the club on Friday 20th through to Saturday 21st June. Full details of who managed what, how much money was raised, along with some hopefully libelous stories to follow later. In the meantime here are a few pictures from a brilliant weekend.

One of our support vehicles on the drive North on Friday, kindly donated by Sunwin of Mansfield and driven by Mr Murdy. Rumours that he is lined up as James May’s replacement on Top Gear have not yet been refuted by the BBC.

There were a couple of minor logistical hiccups to solve on the way.

Team photo at the start line. You can tell it’s the beginning because everyone is still smiling.

At the top of Ben Nevis. Luckily the naked bloke was gone by the time the photo was taken.

A bit better conditions at the top of Scafell Pike:

And then there was Mount Snowdon, which should be renamed Mount Pissingitdown:

No task was too much or too little for the support drivers as we discover the secret of Ian’s speed up the mountains:

And finally, back at the hotel in Wrexham for a few well earned beers.
