The club’s annual fireworks display on Friday 7th November was a huge success this year, raising a total of over £5000 for local charities.
While on holiday in sunny Devon, Chairman Dave, Aka & Mark S muscled in on an Ilfacome Round Table event, and even got to star in the video. To see it click here, and then select the video called “South West Birdman”.
After about a minute or so, you will hear Dave laying down a challenge to Ilfracombe Table for next year. In the words of Mark “It’s amazing what a few pints of local ale does for him!”.
The first trophy of of the ’08/’09 Table year is ours! Long Eaton’s crack(ed) team of Chairman Dave, Area Vice George, Nigel, and Ramsey won the covetted Derby Merlin Regatta on July 6th. After winning all their heats, Long Eaton’s A Team were after some extra inspiration to take into the final. Donning their Village People shirts, and to the tune of “In-the-Navy”, Long Eaton’s finest cruised to an easy victory.
Here are some more pictures from the 3 Peaks. Unfortunately they are very biased towards the beginning and Ben Nevis, just simply through me not taking many photos later. Please send in more images if you want me to add them.
Most of you remember Ian running all three mountains. Below is a short video – pieced together from a sequence of photos – of his triumphant return down the longest and biggest – Ben Nevis.
20 walking members together with 5 support drivers of Long Eaton Round Table successfully completed their attempt to conquer the 3 Peak Challenge over the weekend of 21st / 22nd June.
The peaks, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon had a combined total ascent of 3400 metres.
This, together with over 1000 miles of travelling just go to prove what an achievement the event was.
Although not all sponsorship money is in yet, it is hoped that the club will raise about £ 5000.
The support vehicles were very kindly donated free of charge by Sunwin of Mansfield, Parkway Volkswagon and Webster Brothers Van Hire of Sandiacre to whom Long Eaton Round Table are most grateful.
Donations will be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Round Table Children’s Wish and there will also be donations made to local good causes.

The last year was a successful one for the club’s Community Service activities, giving away a total of nearly £7000 to over a hundred worthy causes. We handed out £4156 at Christmas for the benefit of more than ninety individuals and families, who received case or cash plus a Christmas hamper.
The club also donated money to volunteers wanting to participate in educational projects in Mexico and South America. We bought a bike for a local lad who helped deliver prescriptions to the elderly of the area, but who had his original bike stolen.
Members of Long Eaton Round Table have appointed Dave Welch as their new Chairman for 2008 – 9.

On the same evening, Mark Elm was appointed the new Vice Chairman and Mark Shaw becomes the new Club President.
